Another useful guide for conversion, is to look at the packaging for serving size, usually they have TBSP / cup conversion to the weight metric.
I'm also listing below some the most frequent conversions I've had to do for my baking so far. The list is a work in progress, which I will try to continuously update.
Volumes
- 1 cup = 240 ml
- 1 TBSP = 15 ml = 3 tsp
- 1 tsp = 5 ml
- 1 gr watery liquids (water, milk, oil) = 1 ml
- 1 cup = 8 fl oz. Note that fl oz (liquid oz) is different from weight ounce.
Eggs (US)
All-Purpose wheat Flour
- 1 large egg = 50 ml = 50 gr
- 1 large egg yolk = 33 gr
- 1 large egg white = 17 gr
- 1 jumbo egg = ? ml = ? gr
Butter (US)
- 1 stick = 1/2 cup = 8 TBSP
- 1 TBSP = 14 gr
All-Purpose wheat Flour
- Spoon and sweep (cake recipes): 1 cup = 125 gr = 4.4 ounces (referring to weight)
- Scoop and sweep (bread recipes): 1 cup = 142 gr = 5 ounces (referring to weight)
- 1 TBSP = 7.5 gr
- 1 cup = 120 gr
Cornflour
Gelatin powder- 1 TBSP = 10 gr
- 1 tsp = 3.3 gr
- 1 tsp = 3.1 gr
- 1 envelope (knox) = 7.2 gr
Sugar:
- 1 TBSP = 12 gr
- 1 tsp = 4 gr
